TSA PreCheck for Military Members and DoD Civilians

Did you know that TSA PreCheck is free for military members and DoD civilians? Enrolling in the TSA PreCheck program saves travelers time, eliminating the need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets, cutting the typical security checkpoint wait time to five minutes or less. TSA PreCheck is available at more than 200 airports around the United States and offered by 85+ airlines.

To access the PreCheck benefits, military members should update their DTS profile with their DoD ID number in the Known Traveler (KTN) field and update their airline frequent flyer profiles with their DoD ID number in the KTN field. When traveling, confirm your DoD ID is in the KTN field of your reservation. Eligible military members include: active duty branches of service, reserve components of the U.S. military, National Guard (both Army and Air), U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, Students of the U.S. Military Service Academies (USMA, USNA, USAFA, USCGA, USMMA), United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Office Corps. Eligible DoD civilians include: Federal Civil Service Employees and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Civilians.

Be sure to add your TSA PreCheck benefits apply to both TDY official and R&R (personal) travel when reservations include your KTN (DoD ID number). Military members do not need to be in uniform to use the TSA PreCheck benefits.
